Highsnobette Post!
Fashion’s Night Out in Victoria

It’s Fashion’s Night Out here in Victoria BC. Head to lower Johnson St. between 6-9 pm for great deals from some of your favourite retailers, including Rebel Rebel who carry Ora Bags and will be serving refreshments.
See you this evening!

The Photography of Jennilee Marigomen

Over here at Ora Bags’ blog headquaters (i.e. my living room), we’re big fans of Jennilee Marigomen. Jennilee lives and works in Vancouver and has been published in the likes of 01 Magazine.
The photo above is from an 01 feature of some shots Jennilee took of Michelle Pezel, who you may know as co-owner of Antisocial Skate Shop in Vancouver. Everything about this shoot is great – the natural light, the subject, the bike and, of course, the leather jackets.
Skewed Magazine Issue Number Seven
Skewed Magazine, UBC’s unofficial art magazine just released issue number seven (WARNING – Link leads to large PDF, but worth the read). I particularly enjoyed Lexa Naicu’s interview with Kris Krug – a Vancouver photographer, web strategist and creative director, which starts on page 7.
On a side note, I just got side tracked for an extended period of time on Kris Krug’s site. Aside from being an Ora Bags enthusiast, I’m also interested in how new forms of media and technology are changing our social and moral norms. Turns out KK has similar interests. Now you know – I’m kind of a nerd. Check out his page for sure if you want some interesting reads.
BEFORE… They Were Famous?
Here you see a few jackets before they were made into bags. Also visible are a few of our friends before they were made famous. On the outer edge of this rad sandwich we’ve got Dave and Brad from Vancouver garage rock band, Indian Wars. The savory centre is filled by Em of the Bad Guts Blog sporting the ‘before’ version of the below Ora Bag, also available in our online store.

BEFORE – Vintage Gem
This is going to be a beaut! The jacket was donated by the father of the owner of Outlooks here in Victoria. It’s over 30 years old and is originally valued at about $600. Somebody is going to get a great Ora Bag made from a gem of a jacket.

Michelle Ford Photo Preview
We recently went on a photo shoot with Michelle Ford who also took the photos currently displayed on Ora’s collection page. We were lucky enough to have Mel Paget and Patrick Obenauer join us in the woods to model with our bags.
More photos to come later.
Urban Outfitters digs us.

If Urban Outfitters thinks we’re cool, then we must be. Right?
BEFORE – my custom bag!

Because Randi is the best, she’s making me a custom backpack suited to my needs and I couldn’t be more stoked! Things I need: laptop compartment because I compute a lot, pockets that close because I loose things and complete indestructibility because I’m hard on things.
Pictured here is the jacket that my new Ora bag will be sculpted out of. I’ll post a picture of my sweet sweet new bag as soon as I get my hands on it.

Huge pockets for my junk!
I’ll never leave home without it…
Mel Paget on Urban Outfitters’ Blog
Our friend all-around rad girl, Melissa Paget, was recently featured on Urban Outfitters’ blog. UO has dedicated a section of their site to outstanding females doing inspiring things and called it About A Girl. Mel fits into this category because of her art, her blogs (Two. Three.), her music and fashion preferences and generally awesome demeanor.
Oh. And did I mention she modeled in a recent Ora photo shoot for our upcoming campaign? Stay tuned to see how great she makes our bags look.
